Upon arrival, we meticulously small batch roast the beans to bring out their original flavors. At Gobena, we believe in roasting beans to highlight their unique flavor notes, using different roast temperatures and times for each bean. This attention to detail ensures that each bean reaches its full potential, unlike most mass-produced, over-roasted coffees using old, out-of-season beans.

Our commitment to quality extends to our roasting process, which takes place on a Joper Roaster. Joper Roasters, manufactured in Canelas, Portugal since 1962, combine the genuine quality of the European Old World with cutting-edge technology. This ensures a competitive advantage and top-notch quality for roasters like Gobena. We roast and pack all our coffee on the same day to guarantee freshness.

At Gobena, we also prioritize making a difference through our charity pledge. 100% of our profit goes to supporting orphaned and vulnerable children globally, through our partnership with Lifesong for Orphans. Our journey began in Ethiopia in 2007, where an elderly farmer named Gobena found an abandoned baby girl near his home. Despite their best efforts, Gobena and his wife realized the child needed more care than they could provide, leading to the child being adopted by a loving family from Illinois. This act of love inspired the family to start Gobena Coffee, with all net profits dedicated to helping orphans through Lifesong for Orphans.
