Joe Coffee Company was founded in 2003 as a singular specialty coffee cafe in Manhattan's Greenwich Village with the simple vision of brewing high quality, unique coffees, and creating a welcoming space for the community. As an early pioneer of artisan coffee to NYC 17 years ago, we are proud to continue to lead as the specialty coffee movement expands. We have since expanded to 21 cafes in New York, with a roastery in Long Island City, yet our mission remains unchanged: to serve excellent coffee with warm hospitality in every one of our communities.

All of our coffee is roasted in small batches by our team of expert roasters at our roastery in Long Island City. Tasting notes refer to the complex aromas and flavors inherently present in a cup of brewed coffee. In the same way that a wine may have notes of stone fruit or vanilla, every coffee features flavors and acidity imparted by its unique terroir (origin, microclimate, variety, and elevation) and processing method as well as how it was roasted, and even brewed.

We are a New York-based collection of specialty coffee shops, with a roastery in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Ever since we opened our first café in Greenwich Village in 2003, we have been relentlessly dedicated to the pursuit of high quality coffee, sustainable sourcing and warm hospitality.

Brewed daily in our cafes, The Daily is our house coffee, designed to be a balanced and approachable drip coffee, wonderful black and complemented by milk. Smooth and elegant, this delicious medium bodied coffee has sweet and deeply satisfying notes of chocolate and caramel. The Daily is a blend of coffees from Cerrado, Minas Gerais, Brazil and Tarqui Huila, Colombia, grown between 1200-1800 meters above sea level (MASL) then washed and dried on raised beds.

Our team relies upon rigorous standards when selecting coffees to roast. Joe Coffee Company's quality standards require cupping hundreds of samples of coffee per year, maintaining a seasonal rotation of beans, and working with importers and exporters who use the utmost care in transporting and storing the coffee. Joe works to build sustainable and trusting relationships with our farmers, importers, exporters, and brokers. These strong relationships allow us to perennially source the most special coffee.

Our roasting team approaches each coffee in a unique way, fine-tuning the roast profile to balance complex acidity with body and sweetness. The result is a roast that highlights the unique flavors inherent to each coffee according to its varietal, elevation, processing methods, and seasonal freshness. We send fresh coffee weekly, and our bags are always marked with a roast date. We pack our coffee in sealed, foil bags with one-way valves for freshness. While our coffee will not expire, we recommend consuming immediately for the special flavor.
